Environmental and Sustainability Policy

Dawn Pork and Bacon operate a pig slaughter, cutting & curing facility producing a range of fresh and frozen pork and bacon products.

The company is aware of the effect of its operations on the environment and recognises that environmental management and sustainability practises are integral parts of the business.

We are committed to conducting our activities with due care and regard for the environment and continual improvement to achieve a high standard of environmental performance.

In particular, Dawn Pork and Bacon are committed to:

• Adhering to the National Environment Agencies pollution control licences and all relevant National and EU laws, regulations and other requirements.
• Monitoring and assessment of all of our emissions to prevent pollution to air, land and water.
• Waste management through reduction, recycling and re-use whilst also ensuring the safe disposal of any wastes.
• Promotion of environmental and energy awareness of our employees through appropriate training, procedures and poster campaigns.
• Conservation of natural resources through the measuring, monitoring and responsible use of energy, water and materials.
• Carbon footprint and associated greenhouse gas emissions reduction, through increasing energy efficiency and investment in sustainable technologies.
• Water footprint improvement through mapping, efficient processes, recycling and recovery.

These commitments are met through a fully functioning Environmental Management System, which incorporates an Environmental Management Programme, Objectives and Targets. The Environmental Management System is based on the principles of the environmental management standard, ISO 14001and the Bord Bia Origin Green Programme.

All environmental commitments and requirements have been integrated into the Environmental Management System, allowing continual environmental sustainability improvement in a controlled and organised manner.
